I am a tea drinker. There. I said it. I generally don’t make it in a pot though, I make it in either my Thermos 16oz. or Kleen Kanteen 20oz . Inevitably, my shiny thermos develops a dark brown glaze on the inside. In the past I’ve removed it using a wire brush on an electric drill, but that ends up scratching the metal which actually speeds up the accumulation of buildup.

The best steps forĀ I’ve found for removing the build up is this:

  1. Boil some water
  2. Place 3-4 heaping teaspoons of baking soda in the cup
  3. Fill with boiling water right to the top.
  4. Put the lid on it and leave it for 5 or 6 hours.
  5. Take a bottle brush or old tooth brush and give it a good scrub.
  6. Build up is gone
